about
Penn Course Reviewed is a web application arduously put together by michelle rajunov and tamara levy as an independent summer project. it combines a useful concept with a sleek design, but what really matters is what's under the hood.

a photo gallery where you can create albums, upload your photos, and people can make comments on them. the thumbnails are a modified implementation of Galleria, a jQuery photo gallery.
michelle had been learning php/mysql for 2 months when she decided to challenge herself. she didn't know any javascript, or even what AJAX was, when she started this project.
the first version (v1) was a static three column display, with show and hide forms. the second version (v2) underwent some executive design decisions: a two column layout to optimize viewing at a glance, without scrolling. the third and final version uses AJAX and has an even cleaner, sleeker look to it.
because it was previously hosted on another server, there are some bugs in the current version, but you can still test it out.

the calendar app is a simple database where you can add events for a certain day. it underwent many stages of design, as it started out as a simple css calendar, humbly displaying dates with php. then it sprouted a database and a clean gui. attempted enhancements were a rich text editor and image uploading, but inexperience won the battle that time.
this was michelle's first project with php and mysql. feel free to test it out.

the layout is simple, yet flexible. it is a generic quick use template: the design uses no images; pick a few colors and change them around to get the feel you are looking for, and you're done.
designed for the ever changing whims in mind.
inspired by css zen garden. it is highly recommended you visit it. now. (just click)
